Watching sunrise from Mt. Fuji's summit is about as cliché as it can get... Japan is, after all, the land of the Rising Sun and Mt. Fuji is by far its highest mountain (it's actually a volcano... as for its height, it pretty much dwarfs every other Japanese mountain to a shameful hill rank).
It also is as mythical here as Mt. Olympus in Greece and is featured on way too many art pieces and tourists trap to count. It is as much a symbol of Japan as cherry blossoms are.
All in all, I wanted to climb Mt. Fuji but didn't have any occasion during my year in Sendai (travel is heavily expensive in Japan). Now I'm in Tokyo and a friend is visiting who loves climbing. It only seemed natural to go together and go there we certainly did... and we made it back home safely a while ago.
Rather than tell you all of our adventure in one huge post, I'd rather make it a series of post and I'll start it on Monday so stay tuned. There'll be a bunch of photos, too ;)
